Wyckoff, New Jersey April 16, 2019 – According to press reports, Danish boxship operator Maersk and the commerce bureau of Nansha have inked a memorandum of cooperation in backing the carrier’s plans to build an import and export consolidation and distribution center in the South China Port of Nansha. The facility’s location, just over the border from Hong Kong, will enable Maersk to handle a wide variety of logistics tasks, international transit consolidation, cross-border e-commerce and regional distribution.
Cai Chaolin, a member of the Guangzhou municipal committee and secretary of the Nansha district committee said of the announcement, “The traffic conditions in Nansha are getting more and more convenient, and we hope Nansha can become one of the most important bases for Maersk in the future.”
At a signing ceremony, Robert Van Trooijen, head of Maersk Asia Pacific, said that over the years Maersk has been actively cooperating with the ports of Guangzhou and Nansha on shipping services, terminal operations and logistics services.
